May Day and a coffee buzz

For just about anybody else in the world, the 1st of May is one of the most beautiful days of the year, marking true summer and warmer weather.  For Phoenicians this means the beginning of eternal sun, scalding sidewalks and over 100 degree weather everyday for the next 5 months.  With that being said, it's very hard to juggle fashion and function on these disturbingly hot days,  so I find myself getting much more "creative" with my wardrobe.

I would also like to pay homage to one of my absolute favorite places on earth, Copper Star Coffee.  If it wasn't for these guys, with their amazingly punctual staff and ridiculously convenient drive thru, I would have never made it through art school, any intern/mentor ship and relationship.  Iced, vanilla, soy lattes are never the same anywhere else, and may I mention the delicious freshly baked pastries that are rotated out daily?

On that note, I'm off to Copper Star for a Sunday pastry and latte.

Lace case

So, here is what I mean by "lace case"; I own so many different black lace separates, that it has gotten to the point where it constantly looks like I'm wearing a lace dress or jumper.  Issues?

Seeking inspiration before my coffee.

Today is a full work day for me, I have samples to sew, a vintage Kenmore sewing machine to refinish, a meeting at a boutique and a huge photo shoot to prepare for.  Did I mention that I'm still lacking coffee?

Home is not where you live, but where they understand you.

My boyfriend and I are just about settled into our new condo.  Going from about 600 square feet, to about 1,300 square feet, we are much happier and now have a lot more space to be creative and relax.  While he is a fan of minimalism and mid century modern museum style interior decor,  I'm more of a fan of warm, refinished vintage, shabby chic and fine art installation style.  We met in the middle, my boyfriend is almost fully responsible for the decorative direction in the common area/kitchen (which may I add how odd it is to me that he has such great taste in interior decorating), while I'm still working on the bedroom/office areas upstairs.  Here is what we've come up with thus far.

The bedroom is on it's way, my creative direction and inspiration is coming from Alexander Wang's New York loft, I cannot wait until it's finished.  Here is a sneak peak of a horn that I found for a mere $9.oo at a local thrift shop and hung in the bedroom as I would have hung it in a gallery space.  I just wrapped black leather rope around the horn and nailed the leather to the wall, I hope to find other horns and do the same.
